Dog keeps opening fridge door and nicking meat. We`ve tried child locks and putting a heavy iron in front of it but he can still get it open somehow

Are there any special products on the market that can help? Thanks

Can you lock him out of the kitchen? Or how about leaving him some meat with loads of chilli powder on it...something that tastes unpleasant to try and put him off!!
What a clever pooch he is though.

We had this problem with our old Irish Setter and my old spaniel. The setter could open it even when child locks were on

- and would open it at every opportunity and as they had to go through the kitchen to the garden it was a frequent occurrence

(trouble was she would open the fridge and the lab would empty it!

). Eventually we had to tie it up to stop her - from broken child lock to handle! My old spaniel was as bad

- in the end I bought a new fridge freezer with the fridge on the top which stopped her - only she used to steal stuff out of the freezer and sit on it to defrost it......

Ok here is my suggestion.
You need to watch her doing it and when she goes to do it you need to create a negative sound or similar.
Some people throw something on the floor next to them. I usually bash the bottom of a pan with a spoon to give them a fright.
Do this everytime they do it and see if after a while they get the idea.
Or you can buy a thing that you attach to the door and when its opened it makes a horrible sounds that we can only just here but which the dog hates. I have used these with people before.

Thanks for the suggestions

he's a cocker spaniel and was a stray before we got him. He is extremly clever and although he gets fed plently is always on the lookout for more food :S when we used to have breakfast on the table he used to find something like a newspaper and start shreding it up. Someone would go over to go and get it off him and before you knew it he'd be up on your chair nicking your piece of toast/bacon and be off like a shot! Thankfully seem to be over this now though but he's a pain in the arse!
