hi my pony keeps jumping across fences instead of strate and she only does it above 105 cm today she was even jumping the wing with ease. she was taking off in the middle and in the air jumping across and clearing the wing with the front feet my friend thinks that i was twisting over the fence could this corse it . when they get bigger i get scared so two strides out i drop the bridle and grab the mane and i think i am twisting without realising it and she takes me over it . how can i stop it sorry long and bad spelling and grammer in advance but need help with this to help my spesial and honest pony how deserves a medal

she dosnt do it at smaller fences and down grids . i have had her for about 6 mths when i got her i dont think she had done anythink for a while and was very fast at the fences so we whent back to basics on flat and over fences she is know alot slower

hear is a pic of her when i first got her with my friend on her

i try to find some more resent ones

I had a lesson with Sam Griffiths not too long ago and he mentioned my horse often veers to one side when he wants more space on take off - he made me jump a double cross pole - like a parallel but both rails were cross poles.
If you gradually widen it then they have to keep straight over the jump.
It really helped and I always put one up when i'm jumping at home now.

Might be worth a try once back etc is all checked

crikey, she really can jump.
firstly, are you using a girth with elastic at one end only? if so, that might well be the cause - it is only giving on one side when she really lifts and expands over a fence, hence why she only goes sideways in the air over bigger fences. if so, swap it for a non-elastic girth, or ideally for one with elastic in the middle such as wintec chafeless, which are only about £25.
also, get her eyes checked, seriously. i had a mare who did exactly the same as this, it turned out she was going blind in her right eye, and that was the side she drifted towards. she was taking off straight and then drifting in the air so that her good left eye could see the landing. she hadn't thought of tilting or turning her head, i guess.
also, if you are worried jumping big fences, enough to "drop the bridle and grab the mane", then please please stay in your comfort zone for a while and have some lessons. your pony is obv very talented and very genuine, but it won't do her confidence any good either, you'll both be better off gradually building up to bigger fences when it feels right.

maybe there is something wrong with her suspensory ligaments or sumthing?!?! becuase we have a horse that had a a problem with her ligaments in her back legs, so she pushed of one leg more than the other, AND ONLY WHEN THE FENCES GOT BIGGER, BECAUSE SHE NEEDED MORE POWER! meaning she was pushing even more of one leg than the other...
hope that help a bit

xx
