Madam is getting to a point where I can't walk her as she hurts me too much.

I've tried a choke chain, she ignores it no matter how sharp the correction is.

Tried positive re-enforcement and it worked for two minuets then she got bored of that game.

Tried a Halti but she just didn't settle in it and ended up taking some skin off her nose trying to get it off :(

I'm not sure where to go from here but I refuse to have a dog that pulls so any suggestions greatly received as I feel like a crappy owner atm.

hi, i had the same trouble with my dog. i started to use a walkright harness and she is so much better, she still pulls a little bit, but it causes no harm to her and is easier for me. hope this helps:)

Definitely persevere with the Halti - not sure what breed she is? But if any bigger than a Cocker, never go for any type of harness!!
Think about huskies pulling sleds - they wear harnesses. It helps them get their full body weight behind their shoulders enabling them to tank along like a good'un! Also the world's strongest man - wears a harness to pull trucks. Same principle.
However, just like the Halti we are able to put a headcollar on a 600lb Welsh Cob and control it - and that's the principle upon which Roger Mugford designed them.
Don't just put the Halti on for walks - sit her in the house, put her nose in it, give her a treat and take it off. Build this up, so you are able to put the Halti on her and clip it shut calmly and quietly then give her a treat. Walk her in the back garden with it on just one lap, then treat again. She will get used to it :)
Otherwise, get her really listening to you. Get the choke chain back on go out for a walk.
Keep the lead in a loop, nice and loose and the minute she pulls, say "heel" firmly and spin in the opposite direction, firmly taking her with you.
Repeat this as many times as necessary - and make sure you have an extra hour spare for your walk!!! :)
it DOES work despite being a bit of a pain. I'd definitely encourage keeping up with the Halti though - we've been there and I know its difficult, but it does work out.
Good luck

She's a Cogi KH....and nope no harness! Jack has one but he walks well and doesn't pull but there's no way she's going in one.

Will try persevering with the halti. I can get it on etc with no problem of fuss, it's when she's not getting her own way she strops and tries to get it off.....typical woman ;) :p

Once I'm walking without crutches I may try the choke chain and changing direction. I'm not quick enough on my feet atm.

To be honest I don't think that's helping either as I can't walk very fast or very far.

However her recall is 90% perfect now :D Positives in everything ;)

Ah that makes sense!! I got my dogs a Halti when I had a riding accident and couldn't cope with them pulling! yeah work on keeping it on in the house for a few minutes at a time and treating her for it - she will almost probably throw strops at first ;)
