My dog and the next door neighbours dogs are still at it. Yep chasing eachother up and down the length of the garden attacking the fence. I have boarded up the fence as mine has almost chewed her way through. The damn dog next door just barks constantly as soon as I get out into the garden - with or without my dog, and now mine goes out there looking for trouble. The neighbour and I have fallen out hugely, she has even reported me to the Rspca for my "dog training techniques" - they came round and laughed and put it down to a "malicious call" having been dragged into a "domestic / dispute". So any ideas??? I have tried all sorts but interested in new thoughts. I am going to have to put an ugly wire fence up internally about a foot away from the fence to try and calm them down. Thanks in advance. It is ruining my summer. Oh incidentally my dog walks with other dogs and sits / sleeps at the country pub with other dogs so its not as if she is aggressive.

I don't know what you've tried but I suppose you've tried simply telling it not to bark and praising with your voice at the smallest second of silence?

Since it dog barks at you when you're in your garden, whether you have your dog with you or not, have you tried to talk to yourself in a calm, normal voice, random nonsense about your garden, the weather or whatever?

Otherwise, although I would be tempted to turn my garden hose in the dogs direction, I actually feel quite sorry for the dog to have such an owner so I would suggest you buy really good earplugs and ignore it and tell your dog to do the same. Only because the other owner doesn't bother about their dogs doings, doesn't mean that you need to allow your dog to act the same way. As long as the dog is not in your garden, give your dog something better to do, f.ex. a ball filled with treats that can be rolled around the grass, randomly leaving a treat here and there.

Prose's Stella enjoys using this sort of treat-ball http://www.boston-terrier-challenge.com/tests/busy-buddy-twist-treat.html .

I have an easier version too (I can't find it on any English site that I've looked at, it is called Qulan Plastic) but I also have this one http://www.mutleyandmog.co.uk/dog/dog-ac...son-dog-pyramid .

Hi thanks for this. I will try the calm talking but dont hold out any hope. I have tried the hose, nope, she loves it! I have tried pet correctors etc and I will try the treat ball you recommend but without sounding ungrateful or ungracious, I dont think she will even know it is there. She has a paddling pool, balls, etc etc and I can shake her food in a cup and nothing, she just zones out on me. Yes you are right, I am tempted to leave her to get on with it cos the neighbour is seriously winding me up but I worry about the fence collapsing, however I am going to have a wall built (drastic and costly so if anyone wants to volunteer to help me out) so that I can simply leave them to get on with it with no fear of escaping. Thanks again!
