Hi there

The trailer we just picked up has no partition and no breast bar, am likely only to be travelling one at a time so would like to go for a full breast bar especially as the trailer is only rear unloading it will mean I can make storage in the front section, any ideas where I can get one though? No idea what make it is, it's 5ft wide though, does anyone know what I can use or where I can get one from please? Thanks x

I used a length of chain (from B&Q) threaded through a length of steel pipe (from a metal workshop - they cut it to length for me), and covered it with pipe insulation. It was fixed to the trailer's breast bar fixing points using coach bolts and spring clips. It made a really strong, adjustable bar that the horse could lean on.
At the rear for a breeching bar I clipped the two breeching straps together to prevent the horse backing up whilst i was lifting the ramp.

I think you could probably get the end fixings for a full width breast bar from Ifor Williams as they simply bolt through the walls on either side. The breast bar can also be cut to size and the ends fixed to the new length by any reasonably competent DIY-er.

I found a local company who do metal work to make me a full length breast bar for my old rice trailer, they did it for only £40, light and strong metal. just had to take it their for them to measure it accurately
