Rocky arrived yesterday :D very happy bunny! He was a little stressed at first but over the night managed to eat all his dinner, a haynet and a massive pile of hay on the floor (which YO put there to distract him from scary new yard) so i take that as a good sign that hes settled!! Ate well again this morning and splashed in a giant puddle when i walked him around a bit (hes stabled in quarentine for a few days) and got me soaked!

Quick questions:

1. Worming - he's due but i've never wormed a horse before! Will ask YO to help but any tips??

2. Can i find out anything about his parentage (Show name experimental, first owner (according to passport) someone in kilrea, co derry)

3. He's meant to be 15.1hh - -but on passport says 151cm????? I may be wrong but i thought that was more liike 15hh...no idea!!

Thank youuuuuuu xxxxxxxx

I have someone else worm my boy, as he is 16.2 and I am 5ft3, and he knows there is a height difference and the point at which I cannot reach his mouth  but easy to get the hang of if you watch someone once! I have been trying to track my boys parentage also, he came with no breeding in his passport. The name of an ID stallion is in his name, so I emailed the owner of the stallion and other breeders in the area as a starting point so maybe try that? And as for height wise don't always believe the passport, height will vary depending on a lot of things, but if you want to be sure just whip out a measuring stick :D

Ask your YO to show you how to worm the first time as you want to make it as nicer experiance as possible!

I put a head collar on first, then hold their nose with my right hand, and slmost encourage the horse to rest their head on my right shoulder, I then prep the wormer - take lid off etc, stick it in the left corner of their mouth, right the way back and then squirt all the wormer in at once! Then lift the head - so none gets spat on you, and quickly feed a treat - carrot/apple/handful of chaff to get the taste away!

As for the breeding, I would contact the registered owner or breeder in the passport or talk to the passport provider and see if they can point you in the right direction.

Re height, passports are not always accurate, and he may have grown since his pasport was issued, mine is registered at 164cms but is more like 166cms
