Hello

I am trying to put together some web pages on Ruby Ferguson (to be more accurate, I'm trying to develop what I already have). What I'm trying to do is have a section on each title, with photographs of the various versions, up until the 1990s, as, anorak though I undoubtedly am, I felt I had to stop somewhere.

Although many Jills have passed through my hands, I haven't seen them all, or else have rather duff photographs of them.

I would be really grateful if anyone out there can send me jpegs of the ones I don't have: not too large - around 100k and under. I'd be very happy to credit you on the site if you'd like. If you'd like to see what I've started to do already, here are the page refs: http://www.janebadgerbooks.co.uk/rfgymkhana.html and

I will try and get the other pages up later today.

The versions I'm looking for are:

Hardbacks (NOT Hampton Library version):
Jill's Riding Club, Hodder & Stoughton: front cover
decent photo of A Stable for Jill. Mine is dire.

Hardbacks: Hampton Library. These had blue/white covers and a red background to the title
Jill and the Perfect Pony
Jill Enjoys her Ponies
Jill and the Perfect Pony
Jill's Pony Trek
Rosettes for Jill
Pony Jobs for Jill

Hardbacks: 1970s laminated photographic covers
All apart from Jill Enjoys Her Ponies

Armada paperback with Caney cover:
A Stable for Jill
Jill Has Two Ponies
Pony Jobs for Jill
(rare as hen's teeth I know, but I'm hoping)

Armada paperback, other illustrators for cover
A Stable for Jill: cover by Mary Gernat
Jill Has Two Ponies: cover I think by Mary Gernat
Jill Enjoys her Ponies: cover shows Jill with Rapide and Black Boy poking noses into a bucket

Knight late 1960s paperbacks with covers by Bonar Dunlop
I'm honestly not sure how many there were of these, so I may be asking for something that doesn't exist:
Jill Enjoys Her Ponies
Jill and the Perfect Pony
Rosettes for Jill
Jill's Pony Trek
Pony Jobs for Jill

And anything else I don't know about but which you might.

I have all of the 1970s versions with the rather ditsy covers, and the 1980s versions with a red rosette on the cover, or with a white spine and a photographic cover.

Many thanks,

Jane

I have a collection of Jill books too so will have a sort out when I have a spare moment.

If you have a look on amazon, I know they have a lot of different versions of the Jill books for sale. They all have pictures of the front cover as well.

[/ QUOTE ] That would be infringing copyright!

So if someone takes a picture of a book and posts it on a website, you cant then copy it????

[/ QUOTE ] Not without permission from the photographer, no!

I've got loads of really old paperback ones and also some of the newer ones as well.

I will dig them out tonight and see if they match up. I loved the Jill books as a child although someone told me they were actually written by Enid Blyton under a pseudonym.

Anyone else hear that?

Thanks! Ruby Ferguson really did exist. I read in a magazine devoted to children's books (Folly) that Ruby Ferguson based Mrs Crewe's ghastly children's books on Enid Blyton's more sugary efforts, which she heartily disliked!

I have now added the pages on all the other Jill titles to the website: they're not complete yet, but they will show you exactly which ones I have pictures of. This link: http://www.janebadgerbooks.co.uk/rferguson1.html will access them.

Best

Jane
