I have decided that I am going to tentatively dip the toe back into sharing again. I say tentatively as 2 out of the 4 lots of sharers I have had have been total disasters and two potential sharers fell off! (and I must admit since downscaling to one horse I have enjoyed having her all to myself….. but needs must and all that.)

So how is this for a potential advert?

16hh sensitive 6 year old Mare, needs confident handler and rider as is a forward going ride. Hacks out alone and in company. Works well in the school both on the flat and over jumps. I am looking for someone to share upto 3 days a week, days open to discussion. A financial contribution will be required. On DIY livery with good facilities and access to miles of excellent hacking. Any potential sharer will need own insurance as my insurance will not cover sharers. There may by the opportunity to compete in time.

I am not too hot at writing these things which probably explains why I end up with some unsuitable enquiries.

16hh 6 year old TB ex-racer mare,

Ruby is a lovely mare with a positive attitude. She needs confident handler and rider as is a sensitive ride. A fab allrounder, she is happy to do a bit of everything - SJ, dressage, X-country. Hacks out alone and in company, and is a darling to handle - very affectionate. I am looking for someone to share upto 3 days a week, days open to discussion. A financial contribution will be required. On DIY livery with good facilities and access to miles of excellent hacking. There may by the opportunity to compete in time.

Not too different, just reworded some bits to do this lovely horse justice! (And as I used to share this horse, I know how lovely she is!).

Don't add the bit about insurance, that sounds like she might be dangerous!

You can mention that when you meet them.

On thing to add (just to avoid obvious questions on the phone) you might want to put about stable duties, i know you say she is on diy but a friend of mine shared a horse and she was expected to do both morning and evenings, if this is the case may be worth saying as alot of sharers may only expect to have to go up once

Good luck with the advert, can i be nosey and ask where you are putting your adverts? I have a friends horse that i am sort of responsible for (lucky if she comes to yard once a month) and i need to find a sharer for him as i just dont have time all winter to ride two but i have no idea where to start.

I couldn't remember what sites were recomended from here so I did a google search for horse shares and used the ones that allowed free ads!
