Ok. first off I'm only talking about a pathetic little local showing show.... but for someone who doesn't show it's enough to confuse me!

It has very few classes so it's hard to find something to enter but seeing as it's only a mile away I'm determined to go and fit into something!

Ok, so this is my horse... 14.2/14.3hh not really sure but with it being a local show her height can change according to the class restrictions

Show is in 5 weeks time so hoping she will look much smarter by then!

Ok, so the possible classes!

Don't think I can pass her off as a shire, section A or shetland

Riding pony breeding class not exceeding 14.2hh, mare stallion or gelding 4 years old and older???

Even though I wouldn't stand a chance in the best ridden classes haha there is a class for best ridden horse over 14.2hh but I worry with her being right at the bottom of the heigh thing that it would all be huge horses!

Don't think duns count as coloured so thats another no!

The class I don't know about is the ridden hunter section. Because it's a tiny show they don't have it seperated in to many classes. tHEY HAVE nOVICE HUNTER WHICH HAS NO HEIGH RESTRICTIONS THEN OPEN HUNTER FOR WHICH THE HORSE HAS TO BE OVER 15HH SO CAN'T DO THAT. sorry, just noticede ther aps but can't be bothered to type it all again!

Would my horse look out of place in the novice hunter?

oh dear...strange choice of classes?? i would have a crack at best ridden 14.3 and novice hunter, they are hardly likely to get a stick out are they?

also dun does count for coloured as does cremello etc!

In most of the shows I have been to Dun does class as a cloloured. We have one on our yard and he is doing a coloured class bank holiday monday and at heathfield show (which is a big one) in may. So I would enter for that on definatly and the working hunter he looks a good type to do ok in this type of class.

She looks connie or welsh to me! She looks like a Ridden Pony or Hunter Pony type so any classes like that! Some small local shows allow duns and palomino's into their colour classes so check the schedule (I don't think they should but some do!)
I would do Riding Pony and Novice Hunter IMO.

Similar type - confo wise - to my horses... They both do well in Show Hunter Pony & Small Hunter; if they havent got those, then go Novice hunter! At local shows they dont generally care TBH....

Your pony looks beautiful. I have a soft spot for duns and used to breed them, myself. A quick warning though - just because it's a 'local' show it doesn't mean the Judge might not query the height of your pony, and other competitors might, also!!!!

She looks ideal for Show Hunter pony classes which wouldn't prove a problem with her height. If she goes nicely, and quietly in a snaffle you could enter 'Family Pony, if there is one. Judging by the photo you look smart enough for 'Best Turned Out', Pony Club Pony and, if the schedule states 'duns' in the coloured class, then definitely take her in that!

Best of Luck!!

Let us know how you get on.

Awesome pony! Novice hunter is a nice class, say that shes over 14.2! Def do coloured, duns are normally classed as "odd coloured" so she should stick out nicely with the paints. Am I right in thinking youre older than say, 18? Because you may feel ever so slightly out of place with the riding ponies...lol

At local level lots of adults ride ponies, so you won't look out of place in a show hunter pony classes (often they are split at 15hh). Why don't you measure her properly so you know exactly what you can enter? Ususally they are smaller than you expect, and if so, you'll probably look very small in classes for over 14.2hhs because you'll be 16, 17 and 18 handers in there with you!
