Just hoping to get some advice on my 9 month old Hungarian Vizsla. The problem I have is she keeps going for a wee in her bed. She is left to sleep in the kitchen during the night and she will nearly always urinate in her bed. This has been going on for about the last 6 weeks. Prior to this, she was house trained and did not go to the toilet over night. She has slept in the kitchen from day one with my other dog, who is fine. We make sure that she goes out last thing at night to the toilet at about 11.30pm and we get up about 7.30am if not earlier. Normally, she is in a puppy pen over night and urnites in that. I have also tried her in a normal bed and she urinates in that aswell so I don't believe she is stressed being in her pen. I don't think it is a veterinary problem with her because she has been dry over night before, I think it might be a stress type thing. By nature, she is quite a stressy dog in that she is quite clingy and is wary of new things. However. she doesn't cry at night and doesn't show signs of stress when we go upstairs to bed. The most the dogs are left on their own is 4 hours (and that is not every day) and they get lots of exercise and attention etc and seem happy. As far as I believe it is very unusual for a dog to urinate in her bed because it goes against their nature. It seems to have become a habit and I don't know how to break it. Please help, any ideas anyone?

Just wanted to say hello as a fellow Vizsla owner - I am onto my second now. I have Josh the Vizsla and Daisy the Pointer. I also had a Vizsla before this that was Bracken and she was Josh's great-auntie. They are fantastic dogs. Mine have always been very out going extrovert dogs. Thats a piccie of Bracken in my signature.
As far as the urinary problems are concerned why not drop a urine sample in at the vets to be checked. As FF says it might just be an infection and she needs some antibiotics to clear it up. This is quite common and it may be that she just can't physically hold it until morning if she has cystitis.
There are a few other quite rare conditions that can cause incontinance in pups so it might be worth getting her checked out if the U/S is clear and the problem continues. Is is her bedding that is wet where she is lying or is she getting up and doing a puddle away from where she is lying?
You are right it might be a training issue and after all they do have relapses from time to time but I think I'd still get a urine sample checked just for peace of mind.
Good Luck AJ
