Hi My lovely friendly horse kicked his field mate yesterday and has left a large graze(about 2cm square) on his leg, above the hock, on the fleshy part of his leg. There was no bleeding so we hosed it for 20 mins & then put antibiotic spray on. Can anyone advise if this is the right thing to do or suggest anything else? Should we get the vet?

If you're certain that it's just a flesh wound that doesn't need stitches, ned should be fine. Don't keep cold hosing it as you will repeatedly wash away the blood clots/scabbing over as ned's body tries to start healing itself. Cold hosing for sprains yes, flesh wounds no, except to wash away dirt and debris. If you can see pale, clear, straw coloured liquid oozing from the cut you need to call the vet as an emergency as the kick may have punctured the tendon sheath.
