Help! Opinions needed! :)

I was wondering if anyone could give me an honest opinion on what they think is best? I am leaving school soon and I have to choose 1 out of 3 paths. Either go to north highland college or Edinburgh-Oatridge (equine studies course) or 3rd choice is take a gap year and do my SVQ's and BHS exams at a local yard? I can't make my mind up and would love some opinions. Thank you

Don't go to Oatridge. No one respects the qualifications from there, it's 3 years of how to tie up a haynet, fill up a water bucket and how to put a head collar on a horse whilst the rest of the time you are drunk or hungover. It is a bit of a joke of a place. We won't employ anyone straight out of there.

In horses qualifications mean very little. Most people go for experience over paper.

BHS exams and SVQ's give you a much better chance of employment afterwards as on the job training gives you practical experience - college qualifications aren't highly thought of in general.

As an employer I would echo what EventingMum says and opt for practical experience as whole theory is of course important it is only of tea use combined with hands on experience.

The racing school courses have gone up to 14 weeks now. One college is in Doncaster and the other is in Newmarket.
