hello...
:D just looking up for 1st time tips really and what to wear. i only have a green tweed jacket, would it be best to borrow a different one, what colour stock do i wear or do i wear i tie
should my horse wear boots if he always does at home... should he be plaited, wearing green ribbon??
thanks

when are you going? before or after opening meet - as that determins what you will wear ;)
also are you over 16? again determins what you wear....

horse - there's usually a bit of a debate over boots as they do warm the legs over a long period of time which is not ideal...and they can get mud etc down them which can cause rubs... but tbh if he needs them at home then i'd use them :) but i'd stear clear of over fluffy ones - the best i've found are the old NEW light weight xc boots - thin neoprene with extra bit to protect cannon bone etc - but not sure if the newer ones are as good....

biting - bit as you would for xc etc - never try a new bit on the day of the hunt ;)

plaiting - again depends on before or after opening meet...

i'd always put a green ribbon on a horses first day out :) and a red if they tend to kick or buck with excitement

Green tweed is fine, wear it with either a coloured stock (not plain white) or a shirt and tie.Brushing boots are fine, you go unplaited until the opening meet and even after, if you are in tweed then its ok to be unplaited, i would wear a green ribbon/green tape round tail just so others give you some more room. Its also worth contacting the secretary and they may be able to find you someone to keep an eye on/guide you :)

Tweed is absolutely fine then, it is also ok to wear as a child at meets and if you are only go to hunt ocansionally is better to have a decent tweed jacket really. And wear with a coloured stock or shirt and tie, and a hairnet for girls is essential!

Ditto what the others have said about boots, but if your horse is used to wearing them then I would wear them, I wouldn't think you will be out all day anyway, and you will prop prefer him to be booted, is a good idea to tape round th Velcro tho, use black or brown tape!

Have a good time!
