We are going to the New Forest this weekend with madam and I would love to get some photos of me and her on a beach. We are staying with friends in Burley so just wondered where is suitable for a beach ride, ideally looking for a non steep descent to the beach and sand rather than pebbles as she would probably love a roll in the sand :). Doesnt matter if it’s not a beach suitable for a canter as we will be only walking anyway. Happy to pay for it but just don’t know where to start.

Barton on sea, Milford on Sea, Calshot and nearby Highcliffe apparently all permit riding after 30th Sept. Never been myself bu maybe worth asking on nfppl fb page for more information. Studland beach in Dorset is supposed to be good but avert your eyes on warm day. 😉

We have been going to the New Forest for years with madam and it is not all inland. I am aware that the closest beaches may not be suitable so was asking about other options, we are expecting to box up and drive for a bit. Just was looking for a bit of local knowledge. Our friends have lived quite literally in the middle of the forest for years but I don’t think they have taken their horses to the beach hence why I am asking on here.

The beach at Hayling Island is meant to be lovely- but might be further than you are looking to travel as it's over Portsmouth way.

That was going to be my recommendation, I know Michen has been a few times (can get goss from her) but it is a bit further away.

Studland is lovely to ride on - but not in the new forest. I've also heard good things about highcliffe too.

For studland you'll have to get a permit and prove you have public liability insurance.

Have a lovely time :)

I can also recommend Hayling Island. When the tide is out you have loads of beautiful beach as well as a sandbar to gallop along!
