Tried amazing pony that I love but she has been pin fired. Is this likely to make her more liable to lameness? 14 year old ex polo pony. Don't have background info, bought by a dealer last week and now for sale. She's not been ridden in 3 months, rode yesterday, today her fetlocks were slightly swollen, but she is sound- no idea if this would be because of pin firing or just due to being ridden after a while out of work. Anyone got any insights please?

Only mare I know that was pin fired, broke down when worked. She did pass a 5 stage vetting though.
She became a brood mare as had great blood lines.

Seems like u don't know much about her history . Polo ponies have been used for fast work . What will you be wanting her for ?you would have to get her vetted she may have been retired for health reasons ,

Our old horse has been pin fired. We didn't know when we bought him, it was pointed out later by a showing judge.

We bought him at 19 and he has done everthing we have asked of him, jumping, dressage, hunting, xc and has never had a problem.

He is 25 now and still going strong. He went out today and jumped 2 minimus rounds with OH and he loved it. :)

My boy has been fired, he was done in ireland as a precaution, rather than it being from a tendon injury. He then had 52 starts in racing (flat and hurdles)and now is my showjumper. He has never shown any lameness while hes been with me, vet said he had legs like steel :D
