Rocky is allergic to the mould in hay and straw, so cannot be on normal straw. However, he cannot go on paper, shavings etc either as he box walks and tries to jump out of his stable on anything inedible (he was locked in a stable and starved as a 2yr old and now freaks out if hes in a stable and runs out of hay, yet on straw he finds comfort in the fact he can eat it if he wants to)(even though thats not good for him but he rarely does eat it, just likes to know he can if he needs to)

So yeh i rang the vets and the receptionist recommended using chopped/cleaned straw that has had the mould removed???? Which would be ideal....does anybody know of a supplier in hampshire and also in nottingham (as will be moving there in september)......

Thanks, am searching on google for anywhere in hampshire and nottingham that does it. Have found somewhere near me at the moment in salisbury - have a phone number so will ring on monday. Have also found some dust ex straw that is chopped and treated with different oils to calm horses and discourage them from eating it - might look into that but one is only local to derbyshire/cheshire and the other doesnt state where it is so have emailed

Argh my brain is about to explode!

nedsbedz is dust extracted straw. Chopped up very small so you muck out like shavings. Has a lemony smell to it so doens't pong. About £4.70 a bale. No dust. Have a look on their website. A few people on our yard use it and love it.

They sell Dixons dustless at Rokers (opposite Merrist Wood). You could pick some up next time you compete there (I see from you pics, you compete there).
