Ok bit long...
I rent a 4acre field and two stables as a whole from my dads friend, there are no other horses or stables, i have a mare and foal and have just bought a 5yo mare, couple of weeks ago YO girlfriend decided to move back with her gelding, was ok at first until last few days, the field is sectioned off in 2 with electric fencing, but gelding keeps breaking the fence and getting in with my horses, not good as mare is very protective of foal!
I sold my young horse and have just replaced him with a mare, so cleaned my spare stable out and got it ready... only to find when i returned YO girlfriend had put her horse in! eating my hay... so no one was home so had no choice but to put her horse out, left a not for her explaining, retured with new horse to find a note for me saying not happy, to ask i future and she expects horse to be where she left it. I know i wouldnt be hapy if she did this with my horses, but it is my stable and my hay so technically she should have asked me.

Im getting really upset and so is my dad at having to clart on catching horses and fixing fences so options are...

1) Pay about £800 for a post and wire fence to half the field and build another stable on the end. dont mind doing this as its close to home, but if i ever want to leave i will have wasted my money

2) Move to a livery yard which i do/dont want to do, reason i moved to current loccation was that i was by myself and had my own field. so id have to look around for a suitable yard that has individual turnout

Any other suggestions welcome, Thanks for reading

Have a look at a few livery yards and see how you feel - it might make you want to pay for the post and rail, or on the other hand you might find one you really like.

I had a gelding who went through electric fences BUT he also used to walk straight through post and rail fences!! Can you consider getting a stronger current through the elctric fencing?

Not much good with advice but would suggest you speak to yard owner and explain your concerns. If he is unwilling to help sort the situation then it may be worth you having a look round for other places (although I know how hard these are to come by).
If you do go ahead with putting extra fencing, etc up I would get some sort of agreement regarding what is "yours" so that you don't waste your money, how long is your lease? I'd also ask for your rent reduced if you're not getting the full lot and you did previously.
Hope you get sorted.

Thanks bex think i might have a look round some yards next week, i could also rent a field i used to which is even closer to me for the summer if i find i want to leave immediatley. This gelding also breaks the post and rail fences lol
