Trying to get Pro-Hoof into my horse, tried dried mint powder, apples and carrots, blooming curry powder! Extra strong mints. Really need some help now, not even on a whole scoop yet!

Hi must not want it if he wont eat it hun, maybe contact feed specilist explain the situation and ask them to see if they will send you a small sample of simular products for you to try and buy the one which he is happy to eat!! dont think the curry powder is a good idear, but maybe try treacle or honey mix it well in his feed with warm water xx

Wonder if I gave him a bigger feed, how much of a big deal is it to give a good doer who is not really fat a biggish bowl of speedi-beet in an attempt to hide minerals?

use a shallow bowl that helps disperse the smell. I give me very fussy horse a mugful of speedibeet soaked for 24 hours with a heaped round scoop of safe and sound. However in the summer I had to add *whispers" apple chaff which is very very high in sugar. It's the only way I could get the stuff into him I also tried the dried/fresh mint fenugreek (sp) fast fibre and so many different chaffs I couldn't even recall them.

It worked but was far from ideal I know but the difference the minerals has made has been so good I can't risk not getting them into him.

There's some good threads http://phoenixhorse.myfastforum.org/index.php regarding feeding minerals.

also start with tiny amounts of the minerals and build it up over a few weeks

Mine ate pro-balance perfectly well until the last bag which he doesn't like and I have been trying every way to get him to eat it. Don't know what has changed.

Doing the slowly slowly with shallow bucket and teaspoon of garlic powder. Quite a big handful of speedibeet. It's going much better now, thanks folks.
