We have had our new dog for 3 weeks now. She;s a jrt cross poss abit of spaniel. She's a lovely nature. She's about 8 months old. We got her from a rescue. She was from the dog pound and we don't know her history. She was in kennels for 5 weeks before we got her. She's very hyper for a while until she settles down. She doesn't seem to have been housetrained. Durng the day she has been quite good. At night she's clean until about 7am, when i get up then i can usually catch. Some days she's not too bad, but ocassionally she has really bad days like today when she has pooed twice in the house and done several wees despite being put out. Just want some tips and advice as our other two dogs were adult and fairly clean when we got them.

Start by allowing her limited access, i.e when you are out, if not crate trained (the easiest option) then segregate her in a smaller space, the smaller space means she will try not to where possibly pass a motion in an area she cannot move away from it, if she roams the kitchen or toher rooms she will pass and simply walk away.
When placed in this area, when you arrive home, no fuss, no talk guide her straight from that area to outside (watch her from the window and as she passes and is nearing the end) "good wee wee" and throw her a treat, this way you have a cue, eventually you can say "come wee wee" and let her out, she then has a positive association.
When you are in with her, she must stay in the same room as you at all times, if she passes and you dont see it, it to late! if she begins to show signs and you are aware you can get her collar and take her to the garden, they key is decrease the space she has to help and give her guidance and slowly as you see improvement and no more indoor passing then increase space slowly.

A crate would have been the best option, otherwise a small space for her to remain thats man made:D leave her kongs filled with natural goodies, or long lasting goodies to associate the new area with a positive and have her spend time in there when you are in aswell as out.
