hi, right I'm having a dilemma with my boy. I put him up for sale, and due to the amount of idiots that came to see him, and the fact we've started getting on better i've decided to take him off the market. I'm still not 100% sure about keeping him but have decided to put a wee bit more work into him and see how we go. My only prob with him is he's ex racer and he's v green but such an amazing nature and so eager to please I can't in all honesty give him up yet!

Anyhew, an excellent friend of mine has said why don't I save up a bit and send him off to be professionally re-schooled and see where that gets us, so does anyone have any advice on who to use and where to find them? i'm in north lincolnshire so someone local, and if possible someone who'd come to me as I don't have my own transport but could arrange something. also what bits and bridles would people recommend? another friend has lent me a sprenger and i'm waiting to see how he goes in that.

any help much appreciated!

what bit do you have him in now? i do like sprengers a lot, certain Mylers, and also the Hippus bits. won't use anything else really. can't recommend anything in particular, depends totally on whether the horse likes it. i'm a real fan of full cheek snaffles with a drop noseband though, v nice combination that suits most horses imho.
why not try to find a really good local instructor who will ride the horse when/if you require, and also teach you on him, so that you can progress together. if you say exactly where you are, i'm sure someone on here can recommend someone. how North are you in North Lincs? Is Sleaford too far? I know someone very good near there...

he was in a french link hanging snaffle but hated it (lots of sticking head in air and head tossing) so like i said was given a sprenger loose ring to try so see how he goes in that. he does have a small mouth and a big tongue, had dentist 4 months ago so teeth doen and back checked at same time!
