I would like to buy my LW Show cob a Quillin headcollar - I saw yesterday's post about them but my reply was kind of off-topic so I thought I would start this post.
My Show Cob has a very deep jaw and Full size headcollars restrict his jaw, plus I like to tack up at shows and put his headcollar on, over his double bridle while I tart myself up! So it needs to have plenty of room in the jaw.
What size Quillin Halter should I go for?
He takes a Full in cheekpieces, headpiece, browband and slip head, but XF in noseband due to his deep jaw.
His Stubben headcollar had to be an XF as I could hardly get it on round the jaw, yet it is on the top hole both sides over the headpiece.
Also, which model halter would you recommend for him? He looks like this:

Thank you!

All of Quillins leather halters are hand made and they will make to your specifications if you ask them to.

Just measure all the parts on your horse where the halter will go around and then look on their sizing chart - if there isn't one suitable, drop them an email and I'm pretty sure they will make one up for you.

Here's their site incase you don't have the link;

Thank you!.
My bridle was made by Mr. Morris of Morris & Nolan (Walsall).
I had the noseband made in 1.75" width as 2" was too wide but 1.5" (in the first photo) was just a tad narrow!
He will make you up a bridle if you have odd sizes like my Cob.
He also rang me the day after he'd posted it to make sure it had arrived, as it was when the postal strikes were on!

Well - The noseband was £18.50 made to measure and the 0.75" browband was £6.
The whole bridle was around £150 but I bought it from Risley Saddlery then realised the brow and noseband were a bit narrow for him.
Had I bought the lot direct from M&N I suspect it would have been around £110-£120 for the lot. I know it sounds a lot but the quality really is superb and it just suits him down to the ground.
Another tip - if you buy direct from M&N the leather is much more supple and easy to break in. I think as retailers generally hang up the leather in a heated shop it dries out.
