Ok he has done it chasing the cat in the garden

I think it is just a sprain somewhere in his left front leg - deffo not his shoulder but won't let me touch any further down. Can they dislocate anything lower? And is there anything I can give him for pain (Ibuprofen etc) while waiting to get him to the vets? I have given him some arnica

He is snuggled up on a duvet but isn't very comfortable:(

Poor Sweep :( but I bet the cat is laughing

I have heard of elbows being dislocated but nothing lower. it could be a torn ligament / tendon / muscle or (even a fracture) though so keep an eye out and if any bits start swelling up before you get to the vet get an ice pack on it for up to 10 minutes at a time but no longer. He can have aspirin at he same dose per kg as humans i.e. 60kg human has 2 tablets so 15kg dog has half a tablet etc

Sending healing vibes too x

Arnica is good, wouldn't mess around with anything else before the vets just in case he needs to be put under. More likely he's just pulled something and hopefully he'll be fine and learnt a lesson from it. ;)

Hope he's okay. xxx

Can he put weight on it? My cat strained her leg a couple of months back so she kind of had a limp for a couple of weeks then was as good as new :)

Poor Sweepy, fingers crossed it is just a sprain or he's pulled something. Not implying you're a div :D but have you checked his pad for thorn, glass etc...?

Get well soon little man :)

Hopefully it's just a sprain and he will recover very quickly with anti-inflammatories from the vet. Dizzy sprained his leg last week and was back to normal as soon as the anti-inflammatories kicked in (we did try to persuade him to take it easy, but apparently we know nothing!).

Poor Sweep. He could have knocked back or dislocated a toe, that can be very painful. I wouldn't give him anything other than arnica so you are not masking anything when the vet sees him. Fingers crossed its just a sprain.

Not Saint Sweep :( Chances are it's just a sprain. Stella once pulled a muscle in her neck, couldn't turn to the left, but was absolutely fine the following day. Did you give him the arnica?

Poor sweep...thats what happens when you let your halo slip young man! ;)
I hope its nothing to serious. Agree with giving him nothing med wise until he gets to the vet.

poor boy :(
my cocker wouldnt weight bare for about 3 days last week - i began to worry then he chased a pheasant  and was fine again  he is THE biggest whimp in the world though so i suspect he stubbed his toe or something then forgot to walk properly again until his hunt instinct took over

Hmmm well as far as I can see/will let me feel there is nothing in his paw. I am sure it's just a sprain etc as he has managed to get up and limp out to the postie to get his treat, limped around barking at the cat and followed me out to the kitchen when I went to make lunch..... still not putting much weight on it but there is no swelling etc

Will keep up the arnica for now - am almost sure this is going to be a vets bill/visit to be told keep him quiet etc

awww bless him!

My SBT had a sprained shoulder a few weeks back chasing round our local woods, took her to the vets and they just prescribed metacam and short, on lead walks for a week (which was never going to work!!).

Awww, bless him!
Maybe he was just enjoying being a bit of a poorly patient for a while! Until the catfood made him forget for a minute:rolleyes:
Hope he's ok:D
