A friend of mine is looking at maybe selling her mare, she has NO idea what to ask for her, so ideas please,

16.3 pure registered (in the stud book) clydesdale mare 9yr.

lovely nature, will live alone or in company,

handled and ridden by novice

100% in heavy traffic

this mare hasnt been ridden since last november, ive ridden her for the first time today and she was good as gold, a bit nappy, but just planted, although not ridden she has been longreined,

is currently barefoot,

100% box catch etc.

oh and shes also broken to harness,

SECOND QUESTION, if she does decided to sell her, is it better to be honest and say shes been out of work for near 9 months?? (as of now i will be riding her a couple of times a week to get her going again)

THIRD question. friend has NO trial or vetting areas, on the trial it would be a hack alone thats it, she can however box her over to me, where i have a sand school other horses to ride with etc. if going to try a horse keeing in mind, shed proberley be advertised as a weight carrying confidence giver, would you be happy with a hack alone or rather the use of a school etc??

sorry thats a bit long! so any way guys, what sort of price would you suggest

i would probably put in advert
'recently brought back into work after a break due to ........ (insert reason here.) rather than saying she's been left doing nothing, as you will be working with her, and you have ridden her.
i would def want to try out in the arena 1st, i always ask the regular rider to get on 1st. if that goes well then i'd get on in the arena and then go on a hack if all went well there.
no idea on price tho.

thanks, its hard on the price because of her breeding,

shes no fast beast, and from the feeling i get trying to canter her in the school just wouldnt happen, balance, size of school etc, but then saying that a flick with a schooling whip and i think shed be willing, personally if it was me, i would be honest with people on the phone, tell them that i had no facilities and that i was planning on taking her to a friends school that way i could invite them to see her at home, but also being boxed/travelled etc......... would that be fair/agood idea.

that sounds like a good idea

I don't know, but I do know someone who would be interested if the price is not OTT.

um, doesnt really compare if you take the breed into account, friends horse has fantastic breeding, i think there some thing like only 300 registered (as in have a stud book number) in the uk

friend was thinking, 3750 - 4k

id suggested more as theres not many weight carriers, that can be sold as safe for a novice etc.

The only reason I said about 3k was because she has been out of work.
