i know what you mean(duct). has the top of her bottom on both sides gone loose, sort of wobbly like a jelly to touch.

If you are worried and not experienced in foaling then I would play safe and get the vet to come out and have a look at her.

Think you mean the 'milk vein' & this is normal to be a little swollen at this stage. I replied to you in NL, but second the others, if you are worried do get the vet to check on her. Without seeing her for ourselves it is hard to give 100% correct advice.

Good luck.

Have one 320 days tomorrow and her udders have been rock hard on and off for well over a week with a swelling in front of the udders. Drew off a small sample tonight and she is reading 180 ppm calcium and 9 poor on the refractometer so not ready just yet, if that helps. Her udders actually went down and soft with the bad weather over the weekend.

Hard bags are not abnormal and are like that as they develop, so don't worry, and she is still within 'normal' parameters as far as her gestation goes - we have just foaled down one at 365 days. Personally, I wouldn't be leaving an overdue mare unwatched, but then we have everything on CCTV from 320 days anyway, as I know how unpredictable these mares can be!
