Help please!

My loaner just bought her first horse

Shes going completley DIY so will need all the tools/feed bins as well as everything for the horse!

Hes a heavy weight cob but shes clipping out his feathers so what boots do you think he will need? I think Over-reaches and brushing as hes got massive feather now and i think he might be a bit clumsy without them! But i have no idea because im used to the finer types

Shes only hacking and possibly the local shows for now, Ive written her a list of everything i can think of but im sure ive missed stuff out

So what is she going to need? Ben & Jerrys all round

i,d just use brushing boots.something is better than nothing.i found the best place to go for cheap bits n bobs for the horse is ur local car booty,s i found alot of them ave some good equine things n at a good price.good luck x(or ebay)

Pahhhh... I'll attempt at compiling a list LOL

Grooming kit - personally I'd get more than one hoofpick as they seem to vanish
A summer sheet - purely to keep him clean if shes going to show him?
First aid kit - gamgee, thermoeter, bandages ect
A saddle bag - if she plans to go hacking for longer periods - brilliant for carrying water/food/phone ect
Reflective gear - again hacking partiucarly as it's now getting darker earlier

Lockable feed bins
Lockable tack locker if not provided on yard
Tack / rugs / head collar / leadropes / numnahs
First aid box
Manger / feed bowls / water trug
Shavings / hay fork / brush / shovel / wheelbarrow
...blimey, gets pricey when you look at it like that

RE: boots - do you think he'll need any? If she is going to get him any, I'd suggest going down the el cheapo route first so she's not sitting with expensive boots that the horse isn't going to use.

Also making sure they've got the number for the vet/farrier/saddler ect, I'm always amazed at how many people don't keep them!

I shouldn't think he needs boots, just cos she's trimming his feathers.
But agree with everyone about what she needs and keep VET/FARRIER/POLICE Numbers on her mobile or in her car.
