i have just moved onto my new horse. She is 15 hands and about 22 years old but not done much and i did an ODE on her and we got a great dressage clear showjumping but on the crosscountry she got really strong so decided to use another bit on her any ideas please:confused::confused:

Loads more info needed I'm afraid if you want to get any help - current bit, state of health, diet, saddle fit, you name it. It's not possible to suggest a bit on what you've given us so far :)

Without disparaging the power of the forum but I think you would be better having xc lesson and getting an expert opinion. Just 'upping' the bit is not a straightforward solution as shysmum said we haven't got enough info and even if you give it to us we still can't really judge. Also xc feels very different to sj and often what feels very strong can just be a very forward going canter.

I agree that if you can have a XC lesson with someone you know and trust they may be able to offer advice and a different bit if required.

Good luck :)
