please give me some advice while waiting on vet. wee horse came in tonight and law down straight away. refused his tea and is only getting up to turn round. no other colic signs

Could be an impaction, my mare was exactly like this a few weeks back. Wasn't classic colic symptoms but was pretty serious. Hope it's nothing bad though!

Hopefully not necessary but have you got transport in place incase the vet suggests sending him in for a horspital visit.
If not arranging that might take your mind of waiting (or checking lorry will start etc.)

If you're fully prepared you won't need it - sods law is nice that way.

Fingers crossed do hope he will be fine please keep us informed when you can my mare had mild colic few wks back she was down when I got to her after work shed only just been brought in too hmmmmm took her for lots of walking around yard getting them guts going again luckily got to her in time thank goodness Alawise I'd hate to think shed have been worse as no one even noticed she wasn't right :( :(
Il keep everything crossed for good recovery

Thanks you for all your advice, vet been and checked him over - thinks it was consitipation due to him not drinking enough. Just before he got an injection he decided to show us that it definately was not blockage - poor horse wondered what was wrong when we all cheered. Vet gave him an injection and when we left he was starting to investigate his hay net and very sloppy tea. So relieved and glad he is ok although his buddy was not impressed at the wee man getting all the attention. Its going to be a chilly night heading up every couple of hours to check on him. Thanks again for all your advice :)

My sister's cob had an impaction colic. The first we knew of it was in the afternoon when we went to muck out there was no poop (they are turned out in the morning for us). He was quiet and reluctant to eat but otherwise wasn't classic colic signs but took him 48 hours to poop.

If he will then get your horse up and walk him round till the vet comes as if it is an impaction this can help to get things moving. Obviously if distressed or you really need to push then don't force him to get up and move.

Hope he's ok
