who can tell me about this class , my little girl is 4 and we dont have a show pony , what we do have is a mini traditional, he is coloured and stands 11.1hh, the class is not labled show pony but pony of hunter type and it says there will be obsticals..????
we've entered royal cornwall and i have a feeling its going to go one way or the other... will i be the only pony in the ring not a show pony...? what will the judge make of the mini coblet? turnout ideas? big no no's ? and tbig things we must do ? all help greatly apreciated..... xxxxxxx:D

The others will probably all be ponies of hunter type, plaited and pulled etc, I think you need to make yours as clean and tidy as you can, correct turnout for you and your daughter, tweed jackets, matching if you can then enjoy the day, your daughter will have fun doing the obstacles, practice as much as you can before you go walking over poles, round spooky fillers so your pony is really relaxed and obedient and listening to his rider.

im not worried about where we come in the line up , im very aware that we are likely to be the only hairy pony in the ring, im a little worried about the showing 'scene' and beeing snooted at because we are not plaited and twig like .....

turnout is a tricky one, im thinking that there is no reall bookmark to refer to on what would be correct so im thinking something along correct for trditional and correct for a m&M lr ? any tips on whats right and whats not? and any clues as to what the judge really wont want to see ,and really will want to see?

could he wear one of those brass clincher browbands? will the other ponies have quatermarks and browbands of the blingy type?

do i put ribbons in childs hair?

and what are usuall as obsticals..?

im actually slightly worried that we will be asked to leave the ring for being just plain 'wrong'.... i knew when she begged me to enter it was a bold move ... now im bricking it that we wil look like wallies!

Is pulling, plaiting and trimming the pony out of the question?

Tack should be plain and workmanlike - flat browband and noseband.

Quarter markers - if you are pulling and plaiting and your pony has a dark bum then do 2/3 stripes and dragons teeth. If either unplaited or a white bum forget the quarter markers.

Turnout for child should be tweed jacket, shirt, tie, cream/canary/beige jods and shorts boots. Gloves and navy velvet hat. Hunter ponies aren't really a ribbons in hair type of class.

Leader turnout - tweed jacket to match the childs with blouse and either tweed or navy skirt or culottes and a hat is a must!

The leader carries a show cane - not the child. The child wears the number. The lead rein gets attached to the nose band.

Although I have never seen this class done I do remeber someone saying that the obsticles included walking over a pole on the ground, lifting something from a table and placing it somewhere else, walking over tarp.or the likes on the floor, possibly opening and closing a gate - basicaly a bit like a walking, untimed handy pony.
