Help post op dog

Lipoma removal surgery was today and all went well. Dog (Labrador) was discharged at 3pm, all was ok to start but now she just won't stop crying whatever we do. She has eaten well and is asking for more. She has weed and pooed too, but she gets stress colitis and I think this has kicked in because when I last took her out she was straining and producing nothing or next to nothing.

She is on masses of pain relief, and the vet has given me a sedative gel which I didn't want to use but just have because she was beginning to get distressed.

Is she OK or do I take her to the emergency vet? Be so glad of some reassurance. She is such a stress head and I am too, so not a good combination

I'm sure she'll be fine flurrydor, and often dogs will react by whimpering and crying as a result of the anesthetic as it wears off, but if you're in any doubt, give the out of hours vet a call. I'm sure they'll be able to advise you whether she should be seen urgently or not. Hope all goes well.
 
Some dogs do react to the anesthetic, but to be on the safe side and to put your mind at rest ring the vet for advice, you know your dog and I would ring if it was my dog. Let us know how you get on, good luck.
 
Is she better if you cuddle her? My youngsters reacted like yours to anaesthetic and took about three days to recover properly. Feed her the usual food, was the advice I got from my last vet, which makes more sense than changing the food to fish/chicken.
 
Rang the emergency vet and he thinks it is an adverse reaction to the Tramadol I was told to give her at 8.30. She does improve a bit with reassurance, but I fear it, will be a very long night. Thanks for the advice it did help.
