Hi all

Just wanted your thoughts on the following:

I brought my boy in from the field on Wednesday and his right hind was 'puffy/swollen' in the area indicated on the below picture (not my horses leg) - no heat, no lameness, not sore to touch (i.e. no reaction from him). So I:

1. Cold hosed and out some leg cool on for overnight.
2. The next day it was the same so did not ride but took him for a short walk
3. On Friday it was a little better so I rode him round the field (just to see if would get worse or better)
4. On Saturday morning the swelling/puffyness has gone!

Then, on saturday evening the other leg had got 'puffy/swollen' in exactly the same place - again no heat, lameness, soreness to touch.

What do you think this could be?

OK - Can't add the picture, can anyone advise how to.

The location of the puffy/swelling is on the outside of the hind leg approx half way down the cannon bone and finishes just where the fetlock starts.

He is a 4 year old Welsh Secion D, that is worked 4-5 days a week (hacking, schooling (light), Long lined/pessoa) No jumping.

Racking my brains about this, as have many ideas, but your thoughts/experiences/ideas would be useful.

Many thanks

Is it not just a windgall? My mare will have puffiness in back legs (windgalls) when she comes in from the field on hot days, I assume it is purely from the hot weather and a sort of vaso dilation effect. She wears stable boots overnight so no swellings apparent in the morning.
