Hi not posted in here before but need some much needed advice.

OH got a bag full of beef ribs from butcher yesterday & gave two doggies one each & just a bit worried about how sharp some of the bits that they have chewed off are. They have crunched up most of the bone.

I kno wthe rules on cooked chicken bones ie a no no due to splinters, but should these ribs be roasted or cooked in some way before they have them?

My dogs get raw beef bones, including ribs, and there is generally nothing left after a few hours. I am pretty certain that the bone is pretty soft and digestible when raw, but would go much more brittle and hard when cooked. My butcher feeds her dogs raw beef ribs too.

Not sure if that helps really, be interested to hear from others with more actual knowledge.

Thank you yes they certainly ate them pretty quickly but there were just a few splitters left which seemed a bit sharp. The other thing is that I wasn't sure about bacteria etc do they need freezing or anything?

If it was human grade meat that had the ribs left over, the risk of bacteria should be low.

My lot are fed raw and eat tons of bones. Don't panic! Are you tempted to switch to raw competely?

Was deffinately human grade meat, I will stop panicing now, they seemed more that happy with them. It has crossed my mind but don't know a lot about it wouldn't know what or how much to give them. My OH isn't keen on the idea. Need to look at changing BC diet as he is putting on weight & a little hyper despite lots of exercise & cutting food down.

We havent looked back since putting Korben on raw - he is thriving on his diet and has the shiniest coat and whitest teeth :D He gets whole chickens (not all at one time though), bones and all, and beef ribs and chicken wings - no probs with any of them.

Lots of great information on here about raw diet - really really helpful stuff that I printed off and pinned to the fridge first few weeks I was doing it

Will look into it further, feeding mix of dry & tinned food so prob mostly crap, they look very well & boxer X actually clears up all his dinner for the 1st time ever but like i said BC is looking like a coffee table! I know I spend about £25 per month on 2dogs what is the cost comparison?
