Okay well my friend has asked me to exercise her horse while she's at work during the week.

When I ride him, I don't know why but my left rein goes really long, and my right rein goes really short and up his neck. It happens on both reins (with the same hands). It feels as though they are level but when I look down and my hands are in completley different places.

It hasn't ever happened with any other horse but him. I'm fine on my boy, but something is just 'different' on friends horse.
I am having lessons on him and my instructor keeps telling me to shorten my left rein, but when I do it feels like a really odd and uneven contact.

Can anyone give me any idea as to why this happens? anyone had anything similar?

Thanks in advance,

At college we used to carry short whips horizontally to keep our hands level. It fieels weird but it's good practice and it did work. Just place it on top of the reins under your thumbs (:
