Am seriously looking to relocate back to devon, currently applying for jobs in the sidmouth/exeter and torquay area. Ideally I would be looking to rent a 1-2 bed house with grazing for 2 horses or near to said grazing. I am not averse to yards since I do love the use of a school but would have to be a quiet and small yard for the sanity of myself and my mare! Ideally would be wanting stables x 2 aswell.

Currently applying for jobs, so hopefully would be moving in the not too distant future.

Used to live in torquay so finding a place in that area would not be too bad for me but i'm thinking that realistically I will be near exeter, and am applying for a job in sidmouth at the moment.

Thanks for the help :)

yo!

well sidmouth way id have little idea of yards,. budleigh riding school do livery.

again torquay area is unknown to me, although there are a few yards around the chudleigh area.

finding the small places is hard, think it would need a few ads up etc im kind of on livery.. only its not., theres one other person there, whos pony may be going back to its owner we have tons of fields and the yard is just down the road.. was fab with carful management horses have all lived out and weve had no mud *yay*

exeter way, you have lots of yard, livery yards in exeter on a google search will through up lots! only ones ive been on are goatlake farm and rollestone, being blunt id never go back to either!

renting wise, try the country aimed estate agents, hussys also do rentals, and if you google humble abodes she rents but has a good knowledge of the area and contacts! (tell her I put you her way she will try harder!)

Thanks hun, ideally I am hoping that I can really push the budget up on what I rent because if I factor in the cost of keeping 2 at livery it gives me more cash to rent something with. If at all poss I want to steer clear of proper livery yards because ebony just hates the bustle and won't rest in her stable. Having just her ben and myself has calmed her right down, I no longer have problems catching her and she is a clean girl in her bedroom!

A set up like yours would be perfect, separate but with facilities and all year turn out... heaven!

I know that if push comes to shove there is a place where I could put them at a friends and another friend or three that I could stay with until I find accomodation that suits but I thought it best to plan ahead! :)

properties with stables etc just dont come up in these areas, much more chance of finding a private yard imo.

have a look on freeads theres often ads on there.

my set up is fab, i am not keen on other people lol! we do have a school but its small and prone to landslides LOL I just ride in the field and theres pleanty of schools in the village to hire if I really feel the need!

good luck with the job aps! .. there is a horsie job Just outside of exeter going.. show horses...

Mmmm, I'm in East Devon so will keep an eye out for you. There's a place called "Otter Dene" which is at a place called Venn Ottery, which I think is on the market at the mo for about £600,000. Its a super place, was a riding school, more recently a livery yard, in an absolutely topping location with facilities and lovely outriding. Sorry don't know who agents are.

Jobs? Wellllll, you could try the Donkey Sanctuary if looking for something remotely horsey?? but don't know what your line of business is?

Will keep a look out for you; places like you're looking for are a bit like hens teeth around here, especially around the Woodbury Common area which is fab riding but is owned mainly by Clinton Estates, so things rarely come up there and if they do its pistols at dawn for it.

You could try Stags Estate agents? They may have something (tho' not cheap!).

But will keep my eye out for you OK. PM me if you want. Sorry I don't have any room here at the mo (did have six months ago).

ha ha, well, I must have been walking around cornwall with 2 heads stinking of fish for the last 10 years cause I moved from devon :D:D:D

No, seriously, I love Cornwall but the timing is right... there is more in devon for me and jobs pay far better.

You are a rude nasty person... i like you ;)

I would say that whilst born in neither county I am half pasty head and half fish head... I love the sign that says 'welcome to devon' it makes me all warm and fuzzy but I feel the same when I see the one for cornwall.

I am a torn woman!

Dear forum users

In order to reduce confusion about what is (and is not) a defamatory post, we have decided to post a basic guide to ensure all users have the same understanding.

1. A post which could damage the reputation of an individual or company is defamatory
2. The person or company does not need to be named - if someone who knows the person/company can identify them from what is posted then this is sufficient for legal action to be taken against IPC and the individual who posted the message.

Defamatory posts are not acceptable under the forum terms and conditions. I hope that this post helps clarify matters.

HHO Admin

I have pasted and copied this from Admin/"TFC" as it appears that some people following this thread unfortunately need reminding of certain forum courtesies :(

Enough said???

~Sorry meant to add OP that Town & Country Supplies (now Countrywide/Countrywise??) at Crannaford, Broadclyst, just off the old A30 have a noticeboard and I think (not sure?) that there was someplace advertised over there ........ but worth a look for livery yards etc in any case or you could put up your own advert there.

Good luck!

The message from TFC works both ways. Two livery yards have been explicitly named by jhoward in a less than complimentary way. Sauce for the gander and sauce for the goose I think!

I think you should be careful what you are saying on here, this is a public forum. I don't know the person in question, but legally she can act over these form of comments.

Sunny Cornwall! You must definitely live in a different part of Cornwall to us. We're getting an awful lot of that 'liquid sunshine' here!

Good luck with your move OP, we've just done the reverse, but luckily my husband has dual nationality as his Mum comes from a very large Cornish family, so they let us in!
