My current hat is in need of replacing as its rather old and has seen better days! I currently have a competitor skull cap. It fits me perfectly. So i should probably just get another of those....
.....However....these days there are fancy dancy ones with ventilation and everything for sale!
But.....
I have tried the competitor ventair and the charles owen one with the two holes either side. Both really really pressed on my temples but fitted fine elsewhere. When i say pressed i mean actually hurt my temple if i clenched my teeth (i use this method to test them as if im concentrating really hard i tend to clench my teeth...!!) I tried the next size up and still had the same problem. :(
Also i suffer from migraines really badly....so if im having to excercise with a raging headache i will simply rip the hat off and throw it over the first hedge i think if it causes pressure! (disclaimer....i always wear my hat when riding...im only joking about this) ;)

SO........

Anyone who has the champion ventair.......did it soften a bit and mould to your head quite quickly??

Anyone got any suggestions for ventilated ones to try?

Should i just stick with what i am familiar with and have a sweaty head??? :D

Any suggestions most welcome!

I know what its like getting a hat to fit coz every riding hat you see for sale seems to be round whereas I've obviously got an oval shaped head!!!!

So know what its like!

I got a really fab hat from "Performance Equestrian" - they do hats for endurance and stuff so they're really nice and cool. It was called the "Tipperary", made in Canada and its what all the endurance people are buying. I think they've updated this hat and re-launched it, well worth a try. Might even be tempted myself!

Happy hunting.

Ah many thanks, i shal have a look into them!
As you are local to me i dont suppose you know where stocks them so that i can go and have a try?

I have the Champion Ventair and yes, I do think they soften to your head as they bed in. Love mine, so much so Im on my 3rd...

I would go somewhere with a range of hats and a good/recommended qualified fitter. They'll know their stock and will try a few on and will soon suss what will suit your shape of head best. Despite the price, I'm really pleased with the HS2 we got my daughter, although only 11 she has a large adult sized head and we find many hats just don't fit..... but we found a good fitter who knew just the thing once she'd tried a few on her.
