Help!!! Rugging

Hello I have a 16,2 Irish sports horse, I'm just wondering when is the right time to start rugging? I have had him for a few years and he holds his weight fine! But I have recently been told he has started to become a pain in the field and that he might be cold so to put a rug on him! I know the temp has dropped but I don't think it's that cold! To be rugging just yet! Please help me! Do I rug him or do I leave him to I clip? Thank you in advance

I've never heard of that one before lol;

I don't see any need to rug a horse that's warm, simple as that; If he's cold rug him, if not don't. Don't listen to anyone else either, if you've had him a few years, you should know what his needs are?!
