Hi all meant to be doing jump cross today and have just put mare out but she has slightly puffy legs she sometimes gets puffy legs due to standing in. But when I walked the course yesterday I thought the ground was a bit too hard for my liking. There are long stretches for gallloping and not many tight turns but I dont want to injure her. Whats your thoughts on running on hard ground? I am edging towards not going but am I just being a wimp?

I used to duck out of some cross countries etc if the ground was really, really bad , mostly because Darcy is a delicate little soul who has quite sensitive legs. He's already got one splint from just hooning around in his own field and I'm more worried he'll get another !

I'd probably errr on the side of caution - it's just one event and there will be loads more, why risk your horse's soundness if the ground is really hard. maybe better to wait a week or too - sure the rain will come!
