I posted a while back about getting a Rambo Newmarket competition sheet...

However I'm a bit confused visa be sizings.

My mare is a 15.2/15.3hh thoroughbred, she has been taking between a 6ft and a 6ft3 rug depending on make, for example in her weatherbeeta turnout she fits into a 6ft3 but I her new premier equine turnout she is in a 6ft.

So I'm in a bit of a dilemma on which size exercise sheet to go for. She is only 3 - turning 4 in Feb so does have some more growing to do if that helps at all.

Thanks!

Kiri

I'm not sure what sizes they come in, but have found previously that with exercise sheets they can't really be too big. You can always fold a bit more of it under the saddle, and that only makes it more secure. I'd get the biggest there is...

Me to, I have been looking at the rambo Grand Prix competition sheet and don't know whether to get large or xl. One website says one thing another says something else :(

For one that takes a 6-3" rug (premier equine rugs are huge!) I'd go large (4-11"), mine is in a 6-9" PE rug and has a 5-3" amigo comp sheet which is just about right. As others have said - can't really be too big but can definitely be too small.

I'd go for a large too. My horse is in between a 6'0'' and a 6'3'' rug size and the large fits him perfectly. He also takes a large in premier equine exercise sheets if that is any help.

Nothing worse than a too big exercise sheet, even if you manage to fold it up there are still bits flapping around!

My 16.1 TB also takes a 6'3" weatherbeeta turnout. He has the 4'7" rambo newmarket sheet and it fits perfectly. I guess it depends if you think she will grow much. I have had problems with a bigger exercise sheet on him in the past as it slipped back and twisted off to the side, (it wasn't a Rambo one though).

ah MuddyTB you've now thrown me! I put on my sisters Lansdown exercise sheet - her horse takes 6ft3-6ft6 rugs and it was far too big on her! I was thinking of getting a 4ft7 which I think is a medium, rather than a large which I think is 4ft11...!

My 16.2 tb who is a chunky boy takes a 6 6 rug in Weatherbeeta and the large (4 11) rambo newmarket competition sheet fitted him perfectly.

it is a bit large on my other boy who isn't as chunky and is 6 3 - 6 6 depending the make

Sorry! Didn't mean to confuse.
I think the 4'7" would probably be right for now. If the worst happens and she does outgrow it they do sell for a fair amount on ebay so you could look to swap. But I suspect she would be ok. Certainly when you see the racehorses out in training a lot wear exercise sheets that are 2-3 inches short of the tail. I tend to think that is preferable to big and hanging down.

I am now swaying more towards the 4ft7 one! Fancy that MuddyTB my girl is an ex racer herself :p.

Does anyone have any pictures of their horses in the 4ft7 and/or 4ft11 ones?

I've bitten the bullet and gone and bought the 4ft7 one in charcoal as there was 15% off so if it doesn't fit I can send it back and it will have cost me little to no more than if I had paid full price!

My 16hh compact TB has the size M rambo sheet. Fits him a treat. But I don't like larger flappy rugs because he's mad enough as it is so I do tend to downsize! Whatever the sizing they are lovely rugs, smart and great quality.
