Help stunning colt with splints

Does any one know of any studs looking for a stunning rising 2 sec B colt , I bought this boy to show and he has thrown two splints , decreasing all the time but maybe not be able to show and that is my passion ...... I can't bring myself to geld him as he has the most amazing movement and very well put together with a great front, good bone and four whites and a blaze , any suggestions would be very appreciated he is not lame at all , or should I geld him to possibly make a WHP pony ??? :confused:
 
No, I just left them alone. I did however always boot her up when I was doing any work with her (when she was older obviously!)

I couldn't tell you what age she was when they disappeared- she is 18 now, so it was a while ago! ;) But you'd never know she had them.
 
Our stallion threw a whopping splint in the spring rising 4. He's now 5 gone June and it's almost gone. We used an anti-inflammatory applied to the skin for a couple of weeks but that's all. He was never lame and time is a great healer.
 
Has anyone had success with the gold splintex....:confused: I think I will leave them for a few months and see what happens .... They. Are DEFINATELY going down :o. Thanks to all who have given advice , much appreciated ;)
 
Had a stunning foal a few years ago, went down one day to find two huge (you could see them accross the field huge) splints on one leg. took a couple of months but they got absorbed into the bone growth, and now as an older horse no signs, never lame, and cant feel anything
 
I had a tb who threw a splint not long after I got him. I used the anti inflam from the vet and there is nothing to see now. I feed him limestone flour the vet recommended this to help prevent splints and touch wood so far so good !!

Geld him anyway. Blimey, there are too many ponies about full stop. Give him less to think about and more to be going on with. His splints will go.
 
Hi - My 4 year old (I know older than yours) developed a splint and I was advised to use a paint on solution given to me by the vet - sorry cannot remember what it was called but in any event it never worked. I was then given a tip by my UK SJ trainer to try lemons. Yes I know, lemon! I cut a circular wedge and then this was bandaged to the leg (we placed a bit of white gauze between the leg and the lemon) and we then put on soft velcro wraps to stop her getting to it. You leave this on for a few days and then repeat. We continued this for about 2 weeks. The splint was quite solid at the outset even though it was 'hot' or recent if you like. I have to say you cannot tell that she had a splint. Pretty quickly you notice the splint getting soft and reducing in size as the treatment progresses. My trainer said that he got the tip from someone in a racing yard as they use it on their youngsters frequently as they do not want to use anything that might show up in a drugs test. He told me that he had used it on his own youngsters when the splints were quite hard and solid and has had success everytime. Good luck with yours and don't give up!

From what i can remember wasnt it said If you cant see it, it isnt there' as far as showing is concerned. They used to use their hands on your horse but they cant do that any more so if they are not too big may be alright anyway??:)
