Help please!

I swear there was a recent post on here about this, but I can't find it! My mare had her off fore (lower) nerve blocked yesterday, we only needed to do two sets so only got up to pastern level. The vet wants her to come back into work from now (after a 6 month rest - yay!) but this morning her leg in question was a bit hot and puffy(after being in all afternoon and night), this was general and not localised anywhere.

Is this normal? Should I hose or bandage? She is out today so hopefully it will walk off a bit.....

Sorry I'm so used to things going wrong for her, I'm paranoid

Any advice appreciated, thanks!

I would call the vet as a slight infection could have got in? And if so if you leave it your horses will become very sore and lame

Absolutely know how you feel. Do keep an eye on it and if you're still not happy tomorrow, then give your vet a quick buzz.

Hmm, well her legs always puff up a bit when she stands in (she is 16) and she was sound on it. She is out now so I will see what it is like later on this afternoon, if it’s not gone down at all then I will ring my vet, he didn’t mention any kind of aftercare, although I scrubbed the area down with hibi-scrub before and after the blocks, so hopefully infection isn’t the case.

it's normal. bit of cold hosing and some cooling gel or something and it'll be fine. it's normal for them to swell after blocks coz the actual block itself is quite irritant. it normally goes down no probs. if it doesn't go back to normal in a few days, then check with your vet.
