Hi,
I purchased my horse on the 1st of may 2006. He is a dream!
He was passported but we genuinely forgot to send it off to be updated with our details.Plus I noticed that the company I purchased him from have not filled in their details either and its just his very 1st owner that has done so.I know that its a mistake on there side too as they are a very reputable and respected dealership.

But What happens now?

I only just realised this fault today and have been ringing up, sending emails etc- but they had closed and I will have to try again monday.

I really want to get this sorted out! Will there be a fine/fee or some kind of quibble?

Any suggestions and/or reassurance would help!

It should be fine, I still haven't changed the name on Alisha's passport. When I bought my previous horse the dealers name did not appear on the passport - only the details of the people who had her before she did. I doubt there will be a fee for it!

Depends which PIO it is, some are quite relaxed and happy to change things (with proof of ownership ie receipt or previous owners signature etcs) but other are really quibbly I just had this with a PIO that won't update to my ownership details because i haven't change the passport (which is an FEI one and just overstamped by them) into my name yet, gave me a right lecture about the law and it need to be done in sucha such time, then I pointed out they had changed ownership for the previous owner and they hadn't had the FEI passport changed into their name and neither had the people before that. Now I know i'm in the wrong but I really didn't need a lecture when they have obviously ballsed up too!!

Thanks for the post. I have a proffesional receipt from the company I bought him from. But will it be a problem that they are not listed on the passport do you think?

Thanks for the comment. I have the same problem partly, my horse was due to be microchipped on monday and freezemarked by the end of this month and I realised there is not enough time to get it all sorted out. Can't proceed without the correct details on the passport so im going to have to cancel those bookings which disappoints me!

Hi. I have just had exactly the same problem. I bought my pony back in November and have only just remembered and it says change of ownership must be within 30 days of purchase, so panic sets in at the thought of a fine, but someone kindly anonomously emailed the Horse Passport Agency for me and asked what happens and they said, Nothing, it is not their job to enforce fines, pheww! So i did the online application and as far as i know its all going through.
