Don't worry, it 's not an ad, I'm not selling!

I've been asked if I want to buy a particular horse but the owner has asked me to suggest a price. Is anyone happy to help me come up with a value if I PM some details over? I have something in mind, but would appreciate some help from people who are better at this than me!

Thank you in advance. Still got some choccy left over from Christmas if that helps!

I would imagine that the value is however much you feel like parting with in order to own the horse? I wouldn't worry about how much someone else may be persuaded to pay.

Also suggest you trawl the online sites looking at similar horses to find a guide .

I've found so much huge variance in similar horses I'm finding it difficult.. and there are particular things about this horse which I think have a definite effect on value.. but I'm not sure how much. And I'm not sure whether advertised price = actual sales price at the moment, I've only ever bought two horses ever, so I'm not very savvy!!

You're right. I also have to justify it to my OH that I'm not paying above what he is "worth". (He's rather priceless to me but that won't count for much to my OH!).

Thank yoyu all.

No horse is worth more than you are prepared to pay but looking at what's on offer will give you the ball park you are in.

Thank you - I have a clearer idea now.
Blooming minefield though isn't it! Glad I don't buy horses often. I've seen such wild variations in value for similar sorts of animals, have had some really helpfu advice from bepositive and I think I now know what I'd go in with and what I'd be prepared to go up to.
