HELP, videos from camera-computer!!

Now I'm not a complete technphobe, and had a fantastic program to put my vids onto the computer so i could then email them. However, the trila has now run out and I dont want to spend a fortune on reknewing it...... anyone got any useful tips/ideas of getting the video into an emailble format?!!

What about Windows Moviemaker?
Wouldnt that do it?
