Well, I know some of you belong to welfare/rescue organisations and I just can’t go into too much info on here as it just depends on ‘who’s watching (excluding H&H), but can you please advise me if they close during week-ends (and bank holidays) and what is their procedure when they first receive a call regarding a welfare case to vet attention etc etc….. and what hurdles do they have to climb! It’s all getting rather frustrating now. I have already made inquiries about getting someone else out but don’t think that will be any quicker. Thanks for reading. Please PM me if you prefer.

Most organisations are open 24/7, if a welfare case is reported a field officer will visit to assess the situation! They will ask for vet attention if required or if the horse needs to be removed the police will be asked to attend.

Yes with other posts - weekends and bank holidays they are usually staffed - probably on skeleton staff though as usually most of the paid peeps work during the week - but there will usually be someone there to help if you need it.

If it helps you, I posted something on Tuesday as I was concerned about some ponies and needed help on procedures - received lots of useful advice which may may help you (not sure if you can paste links to previous threads, but am sure you can get to it if you click my user name and see what I've posted).

Good luck - hope all is okay.

Thank you Chestnut mare and City Mare for your replies. I'm hoping that tomorrow will see something positive happen.

City mare - I had been following your post and was trying to find it yesterday for the helpful information/contacts especially for my area. Glad you popped up.

Can't provide too much information at moment - but will hopefully do soon.

Thanks guesstimation for your info - I shall have a read.

I can advise that another rescue organisation has become involved and the horsey still hasn't been seen by a vet yet. It will be a week (very soon) since it was reported. There seems to be so much red, pink, blue, green, yellow tape. So very frustrating.

Guido16 - At the moment I still can't go into detail as the welfare officer (may) want to look into the only opportunities/contacts they have but will have to go via the Police re. data protection etc. The welfare officer did confirm that the equine had been removed last week (but not by them).
