Hi

I am doing a western style trekking holiday in the states in May, I'm very exciting! As it is western, a helmet is not required although I will take mine just incase. Does any one know of any insurance companies that might cover me if I decided not to wear a helmet?

It is proving rather difficult and expensive, if anyone has done this before any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks

I think you will struggle to find a British insurance company to offer you the cover you want. Most of them state that they will not pay out in an accident if it is shown that you did not wear the correct safety attire. You may be able to get temporary insurance with an American company, although I wouldn't be surprised if you have to have an American address to get that. If you think your head is going to be too hot due to riding for many hours in higher temperatures wouldn't it be more sensible to buy a lightweight, breathable hat rather than go hatless on a horse you don't know?
