I've got a lovely pair of white HKM imitation suede seat jods for dressage, they were on sale in local tack shop for £20 and they're v comfy. After doing dressage in the torrential rain today, they're covered in dirt and mud stains, have washed them twice so far (can only wash them on a 30deg wash because of the suedey bit) with washing powder and whitener ....

stains aren't going anywhere :(:( have just put them back on for a third time after dousing them in vanish stain remover and rubbing vigorously with a vanish stain bar ... any other tips?

Cannot bare to lose my bargain beautiful dressage jods :( would probably cry if they went in the bin!!

Hi,

Vanish should really do the trick if not - try washing up liquid (the well known brand ;)) as soon as you take them off - it gets rid of most stains.

Before you wear new Jods get them treated first with a stain repellent - just google for latest ones.

:D:D:D:D

Bicarbonate of Soda? x

excuse spoilt 20 year old who knows nothing about washing other than put washing in, put powder in, press on button ....... do i put this in the washing machine? how much do i use? is it safe to use on the imitation suede? do i soak beforehand?

:o how embarrassing I know nothing about washing clothes lol

If the vanish fails can I wash them in washing up liquid next? Can you recommend me a stain repellent?? x

I have a small child who manages to get mud stains regularly, despite never wearing light stuff at the yard.
Dissolve a cup of washing powder & a few scoops of stain remover powder in a bucket of warm water & leave them to soak at least over night, preferably 24 hours. Then scrub with washing up liquid. Spray remaining stain with flash, leave 10 mins & scrub again. Then put back in the washing machine with more flash on. If stains remain repeat the above from start to finish. It's worked on daughters show ones & I doubt you roll in mud like she does or jump in puddles after your classes.

Thank you little legs, shall get off to asda tomorrow and stock up on flash!!!! Will soak next if they are still stained when they come out of this cycle!

well ........ :p

I *think* you mix the Bicarb in warm water, then leave jodhs to soak for a while, and the fizz will help break down the stain.
I did say *I think*, lol.
I'm more than useless, I wouldn't even know where to put the powder in the washing mashine! I have 2-in-1 capsule things that you chuck in the drum with the washing!
I just remember when I was tiny, my mum getting mud stains out of my beige jodhs with bicarbonate of soda. Maybe google it? Its a gentle whitener - you can rub it on your teeth to brighten them! - so it won't ruin the suede-y seat of your jodhs =) x
