I know that winter is a long way off, but seeing as Autumn Hunting is starting in just a couple of weeks, my horses will need clipping and my new horse (a 15.3 thoroughbred X) doesnt have a warm rug for winter.

He has a naturally greasy coat (I am in the process of grooming some of it out) so is quite good at keeping warm but with a clip (most probably a trace/blanket clip) this will be different.

I'm not sure what weight rug I should be using for both inside the stable and out and would be gratful to hear your opinion! Thanks

My TB x welsh mare lived in a 200grm rug with neck cover last winter, she had a high blanket clip & stayed very warm.

I have higher weight rugs but she didn't need them as is naturally a toasty kind of a horse :D
