help with avatar

Go to "user options" and click edit next to your personal information bit. Scroll down and click "upload avatar" - it has to be 10000 bytes or less, so you may have to reduce the file size of any piccies you have.
 
ok this how i did it, uploaded photo to photobucket click on photo then resize it to avatar size save it to desktop, then edit profile upload pic then it should be on
 
did say idiots guide.whats this `file`buisness?did have avatar size fom p.bucket but it still sayes its too big.

The problem I have with trying to do it is that I cant get the photo small enough in terms of number of bytes. I resize it 80x80, but it wont upload because its over 10000 bytes. Then if I try to get it down that small you cant see the picture!
 
I keep having that problem, too.
I got round it, after much stress and swearing, by uploading my photo to another site I belong to (Stumble Upon), asking it to make the pic into an avatar - it can do this - and then saving the pic back to my computer and then it will upload on to here.
But I had the same problem as you for months and months. And there seems to be no logic - some pics would be small enough, and some not, even though they were the same pixel size. Most aggravating.
 
I have the same problem! Not sure if it would be better to take a pic on my phone and upload it - would that make the picture a smalla byte size?

yes i had to e-mail a pic from my phone, save it and resize in photoshop.

cant do signature though, do you need photobucket to do this, spent a whole morning trying and had to give up

Signatures are easy! Resize your pics to about 100 pixels high, put into Photobucket and upload directly into your siggy bit in your user options.

Have to say I had help with mine from Jessrulesdaworld (hope Ive spelt that right!!) i.e. I couldn't do it so she did it 4 me!

i am sooooooooo glad there are more of you.i`m going to try later when its dark,mean while i`m out in the sunshine cos its warming up a treat!
 
If anyone wants me to resize photos so they can use them as avatars then if they PM them to me then I will resize them.
