I have a choice of three chaffs at our yard, HIFI - original, Happy Hoof or Molliechaff..
Am I right in saying Molliechaff is high in sugar ? I have two horses, a 14.3hh cob (happy hacker) and a 16.1hh WB who is coming back into work hopefully and so will be increasing fitness over the coming months.

I'm no expert on feed and there's so much choice out therebut no low starch and sugar is better. Could you please advise which of the above chaffs would be the better option please ? Currently on Chestnut Feed Chomp/ Chaff
(NB: Also fed Chestnut Sensitive Performance Mix)

Thank you

Most molliechaffs are just sugar yes. I feed the dengie hifi happy hoof, its got little nuggets of grass in it so horse feels like he is getting a real dinner lol

I wouldn't use any of them to be honest. If the horse is a good doer and just needs something tofillhimup/keephimbusy while he is inside,I feed plain oat straw chaff, if the horse needs a chaff with feed value,I would use a dried grass chaff, there are plenty to choose from.

Just googled the performance mix and its got grass chaff in it, not sure why you add to it ? why have you only got the choice of 3 chaffs at the yard is if full livery where feed is included ? Yes as you say I would stay away from the mollichaff

From mollichaff the lowest sugar is the calmer one. I use it as its highly platable for my horses and it doesn’t send them loopy. I don’t use it for calming purposes I just use it because it’s not ridiculous money and it has low sugar low starch. My horses seem to like it!

I don't feed chaff, but if I had to pick from those, I would go for Happy Hoof due to the low sugar content. Horses seem to like it too.
