I have an 11 year old holstein who I am trying to get a bit more topline and condition on. She puts weight on really easy and its a balancing act between looking good and having a belly. I read that a fibre and oil might be the key with a balancer. She is currently on showshine chaff and competition mix and has been lacking in a bit of energy of late. Had thought of changing to alpha a oil a balancer of some assortment and a handful of oats when needed. There are so many feeds to choose from I want to keep it simple.
Any ideas? Dont want anything that will blow her mind.

Don't normally reply to these but OH is ill and am bored...

Won't get topline with oil. Or feed. Or balancer. Or fibre.

Do some exercise.

I'm a bit confused reading your post. You say you want a conditioning feed and then also say that she looks good and already has got a bit of a belly?

Your best bet is to call some feed companies and have a chat with them :) they're very helpful.

I also agree with Tallyho, feed will not create topline....that can only come from proper work.

Competition mix is quite high calorie for a good do-er. Although we compete quite heavily and hunt in the winter we found we were actually better dropping down to working cubes from competition mix. Any extra weight and they will just lump about.

Topline - and indeed condition - come from work not feed.
