I've maintained a fit 18 yo mare on good grass, hay and mineral laicks however; now she is coming into season she suffers badly and in turn we can end up fighting each other, combined with typical stubborn mare attitude this is proving a problem I've decided to give her the Summer on a suplemented feed....but what? I want something to stop her discomfort together with something that'll pick her up a bit and tackle that stubborn streak. She is fit and in great shape ATM I just don't want anymore big fights this Summer...help please, thanks in advance

If you put this in the stable or vets bit, you may get more answers

But in answer to your question I personally give her something like a pasture mix or alfa a and a handful of oats......oh and give her agnus cactus for her hormones

PS always treat a woman with respect and they wont throw their hormones at you

in fact, re reading your post, you possibly only need the agnus cactus or regumate and no feed........you dont want her over the top on the feed once you sort her hormones

I'm hearin gyou on the Alfa & Agnus Cactus parts but I think she may need a balancer as though the grass she is on is excellent I think she needs something to supplement what she isn't getting from the pasture...ideally this would be in a powder or liquid form...any ideas?

I'll second the Agnus castus (found in supplements like Hormonize). As she is on excellent pasture, then she is unlikely to need the level of protein in a balancer, but you could feed a broad spectrum vitamin/mineral supplement like Equivite or Benevit. (Although to be honest, if the pasture is excellent and she is in good condition and good health, she probably will be fine without one!)
